Just as it does every month at the beginning of its meeting, the Charlestown City Council and attendees rose to recite the pledge of allegiance. But a special visitor led the July meeting’s pledge: Charlestown’s own Anna Gregory, 10, Indiana’s representative to the 2009 National American Miss Pageant.

Residents of the Lakeview and Highview subdivisions learned at a July 6 meeting that engineering drawings have been submitted to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and easements are currently in the process of being obtained to complete the installation of a new sanitary sewer system.

An aggressive effort to clean drainage systems throughout Charlestown is set to commence in August.

The City of Charlestown has obligated $1 million from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for improvements along Ind. 3.

Already experienced with video production, the Digital Connectors of Charlestown have added a new skill to their repertoire: Web-site design.

Bids for a resurfacing project on Charlestown Landing Road will open Aug. 2, according to David Flowe, Executive Director of Community Services.
