CHARLESTOWN ADVISORY PLAN COMMISSION |

The
City of Charlestown Advisory Plan Commission exercises City planning and
zoning powers according to Indiana Code 36-7-4 et. seq. Planning is the
process through which the City determines land use, present and future, and
compiles the data (Comprehensive Plan) needed to periodically reassess those
determinations. Zoning
is the legal mechanism for implementing a plan.

| The
Advisory Planning Commission is comprised of seven (7) members; three (3) of
which are appointed by the City Council, and four (4) "citizen members" of
which are appointed by the Mayor. All three (3) of the Council appointees
must be either elected or appointed city officials or employees of city
government. No more than two (2) of the Mayor's "citizen"
appointees may be of the same political party. |
