Volunteer Program
Building and Grounds Committees
The Building Committee
meets to analyze building maintenance and needs at the Senior Center at
999 Water Street, and to develop
action plans for team work days. The Building Committee is centered around work
teams having volunteers with diverse experiences in general construction,
painting, electrical, plumbing, and general handy work needed to tackle specific
issues as well as monitor general maintenance and safety.
The
Grounds Committee maintains flowers and
plantings on the grounds and exterior structures. The grounds are maintained
exclusively with volunteer help, using the guidance of the Parks Department.
Members wishing to make a significant contribution to the ongoing operation of
the Center will find this a fine place to start. Those who have some experience
in gardening, landscaping, or building maintenance would be most welcome. Just
plain grunt work is appreciated as well.
