Chief Steve Dean have served as Chief of Police over the Charlestown Police Department since January, 2008. As chief, Dean is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the police force, supervision of all employees, preparation and management of the department’s budget and purchases, and serves as the department’s spokesman.

Dean served on the Indiana State Police for 30 years and is a 16-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He has resided in Charlestown since 1975.
