ON-LINE OFFICE OF THE CITY COURT:
The Charlestown City Court was established according to Indiana Code 33-35-2 et. all and is the City's court of record. The Charlestown City Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor crimes, infractions and city ordinance violations administered by the City and its agents (such as the Charlestown Police Department, the Board of Public Works and Safety and Animal Control, as example).
The court is presided over by the Honorable George Waters, currently serving a four year elected term from January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2011. The court schedule includes two sessions per month, one to hear cases of a misdemeanor offense and the other to hear cases of infractions and ordinance violations. The misdemeanor case court session is generally held on the third Wednesday evening of every month beginning at 7:00 pm. The infraction/ordinance case court session is generally held on the fourth Wednesday of every month beginning at 7:00 pm. Click here for a complete 2007 Court Schedule.
The Charlestown City Court is located within Charlestown City Hall, at 304 Main Cross Street, Charlestown, Indiana 47111. The Clerk of the Court is Ms. Cheryl Hadley.
