The Neighborhood Block Watch program is sponsored and developed by the Mayor, City Council and the Charlestown Police Department.

The Neighborhood Block Watch has three main objectives:

● Crime prevention

● Emergency preparedness

● Building close-knitted neighborhoods

All three objectives can be easily achieved through this organization, which will be made up of citizens like us. By simply organizing what comes naturally – neighbors watching out for each other – there will become a greater sense of security, safety and community spirit.

Your City Council has approved $15,000 to organize and fund this program. Once fully organized, there will be signs in each neighborhood, window decals for participating homes, volunteer Neighborhood Block Watch Patrols, Emergency Preparedness teams, training for both block watch and emergency preparedness and neighborhood socials.

We believe that this program will become a model for other communities to follow. All that will be needed is volunteer assistance to make it work.

The citywide Neighborhood Block Watch program is divided into four districts that correspond with the city council districts.  We hope that you will come join us in this great program in the continued effort to make Charlestown the best community to live and raise a family.
