NEW PRESCRIPTION DRUG CARD AVAILABLE TO ALL INDIANA RESIDENTS
The state recently launched a new prescription assistance program (PAP) that offers all Indiana residents the chance to lower the high cost of prescription drugs by as much as 75% at more than 56,000 pharmacies across the country.
The program, called Indiana Drug Card, provides free drug cards to Indiana residents, regardless of income or age. There are no forms to fill out and no membership requirements. The card is pre-activated and can be used immediately.
Indiana Drug Card was launched to help uninsured and underinsured residents, but those who have health insurance with no prescription benefits or high deductible plans, such as a Health Savings Account (HSA), can also use the program.
The program is funded through the participation of pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies and is being promoted by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT). Charlestown Clerk Treasurer Donna Coomer first became aware of the program through a recent Clerk Treasurers convention.
“This is a great program to offer our residents and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to help offset the rising costs of prescription drugs,” states Coomer. “It will be of great help to many in this community, especially with the negative change in the economy.”
Charlestown residents can visit www.Indianadrugcard.com to download a free card, search drug pricing, and locate participating pharmacies. For those without access to the website, cards can be picked up at Charlestown City Hall, or at any CVS pharmacy location.
“We’re happy to be able to offer this to the public and appreciate the companies that have created this program,” said Mayor Bob Hall. “I know that the savings will help in these times.”
