What Else Can I Do If I Get Discolored Water?

It may be an isolated occurrence that can be resolved by simply running your water for a short time.

Run the COLD water for 15 minutes. Do not run the HOT water during this time as this will only draw the discolored water into your hot water heater.

If the water does not clear after 15 minutes, the problem may be a widespread event that will require an area flush. Turn off your water and, as with all occurrences, report it on the city’s website. If you do not have internet access, call the Project Hotline at 812-256-7130.

*It is recommended that water customers clean and/or replace water filters and screens periodically, but especially after any occurrence of discolored water, to remove any accumulated debris.
